The Rantoul Rotary Club also helps in local clean-up efforts, provides scholarships for graduating RTHS students, supports Scout troops, funds Little League, honors local farmers, hosts an annual golf tournament, and helps at the Luke Remington I Made A Difference Cancer Walk. The Rantoul Rotary Club also hosts an pancake breakfast each year with the community’s Fourth of July celebration and created Rotary Hill at Brookhill Park for sledding. Being a worldwide organization that was started by Chicagoan Paul Harris more than 100 years ago, Rotary has also had some major international projects, and the biggest of them all has been the eradication of polio — with just three countries left to overcome the disease and millions of dollars behind the project, including $25 million of matching funds from the Gates Foundation. Rotary provides special relief boxes for hurricane victims and has even helped free young girls in Nepal from slavery.
